A refined communal learning environment at Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris

Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne aimed to modernise key communal areas, such as libraries and lounges, to meet the evolving needs of higher education. The goal was to create spaces that support interaction, concentration, and student well-being, helping foster a more dynamic and inclusive learning environment.

As part of a broader campus-wide furniture renewal, soft seating solutions were introduced to define social spaces and seamlessly complement the university’s architectural vision.

Collaborative design and implementation

In collaboration with our Paris-based reseller Ligne et Couleur, the project was brought to life through their local expertise and project management. This partnership ensured a smooth and effective implementation that balanced design aspirations with the functional demands of a high-traffic academic environment.

The Tere sofa and armchair series were chosen as the central pieces in the library and lounge areas. Their minimalist Finnish design fosters relaxation, informal study, and social interaction, supporting a flexible and welcoming atmosphere that complements the open layout of the spaces.

Practical performance for everyday use

Designed for high-use environments, the seating was upholstered in a durable, high-performance material with antibacterial properties. This ensures the furniture not only meets hygiene standards but also maintains its functionality and appearance in public spaces. The resilient surface allows for easy cleaning and ensures the furniture retains a well-maintained look throughout its use.

Spaces that support modern student life

The integration of these seating solutions has transformed the university’s communal areas into functional and durable spaces. These areas now serve as places where students can meet, relax, study, and collaborate. Enhancing the overall student experience and supporting a more connected and productive campus culture.
