Jalo Community Center with school, KG and library

The multi-purpose building Jalo in Lahti, Finland has been designed to serve the surrounding community with nearby public services like the school, the kindergarten, the library and club activities both for children and adults. The building also offers a possibility for associations and companies to organize meetings and events. The design process was done carefully considering the details from the perspectives of different users’ needs.

Furnishing solutions for the multi-purpose building were an integral part of the construction and design process form the beginning. For ISKU this was also a great opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities to furnish a variety of spaces for very different purposes like preschool, daycare facilities, meeting rooms, classrooms, lounge areas, dance studio, break rooms, library, canteen, and offices.

At Jalo, it was important that the furniture was flexible, easy to use and versatile. Durability and attractive appearance were also among the key criteria to make the environment welcoming and serve as an inspiration for learning something new.
