ISKU is a forerunner within its field when it comes to ensuring responsibility of its operations. We invested in calculating the carbon footprint and wanted to do it transparently, calculated by a third party. We chose Green Carbon as our partner. We want to offer our customers reliable third-party carbon footprint calculations based on reliable standards. We calculated the carbon footprint of our entire operation as well as product-specific carbon footprint calculations.

Supporting responsible sustainability

One sustainability objective of ISKU has been to determine the carbon footprint of the entire operations in 2021 by an independent calculation expert in accordance with a reliable standard.

Our emission sources are classified into three different scopes (scope 1, 2 and 3). ISKU’s carbon footprint in 2021 totalled 11,471.2 t CO2e.

Observations on the results

ISKU’s environmental responsibility is based on meeting the expectations of customers and stakeholders and exceeding the requirements of environmental regulations and legislation.

During 2022, we will review the remaining carbon footprint emission reduction opportunities per category. The climate road map will help to build the path towards carbon neutrality and set concrete science-based targets for it.

Product-specific carbon footprint

ISKU’s goal for 2021 was to make product-specific carbon footprint calculations to help customers make the most climate-friendly choices. The product carbon footprint (PCF) calculations cover the emissions during the whole life cycle of the product.

The carbon footprint of ISKU’s furniture is most significantly affected by the materials used: the amount and their carbon footprint factor.

Product carbon footprint (PCF) calculations

The product-specific carbon footprint calculations has been carried out according to SFS-EN ISO 14067:2018 Greenhouse gases – Carbon footprint of products – Requirements and guidelines for quantification.

All products included in the product-specific calculation have been made into product cards containing the basic information of the product (name, type, product number), emissions with Cradle-to-Gate and Cradle-to-Grave, the materials used and their quantities, the weight of the product, the distribution of emissions, the choice of fabric materials and their emission effects, as well as the recycling instructions.
