Viking Malt: Modern Facilities Support Work and Community

Viking Malt’s personnel have moved into a new malting plant, bringing significant improvements to their daily routines. For the first time, the entire organization now operates under one roof, with all functions housed in modern, well-equipped spaces. Viking Malt’s operational organization employs approximately 20–30 staff members daily, with production running in shifts every day of the year.

Functional and Sustainable Spaces for Daily Operations

“Our new facility operates 24/7, highlighting the importance of durable and high-quality furnishings, particularly in the control room, office, and break areas. We have prioritized ergonomics, equipping all workstations with adjustable desks and ergonomic chairs. Additionally, we paid special attention to lighting, which, according to feedback, has significantly improved workplace comfort,” says HR Manager Liisa Sipilä.

The design of the facilities focused on functionality and practicality. With the help of ISKU, Viking Malt has incorporated timeless furnishings aligned with the company’s brand colors. The break areas feature comfortable sofas and armchairs, while ergonomic workstations and specially tailored control room chairs support daily operations.

Fostering Community and Efficient Work Under One Roof

The new plant and shared spaces have brought the Viking Malt community closer together. Previously spread across multiple buildings, employees now work side by side, enhancing teamwork and mutual understanding. Shared coffee breaks in the break room have particularly strengthened team spirit and fostered better connections among colleagues. Employees also appreciate the organization and clarity of the workspace, and overall comfort, which aligns with the plant’s 5S principles.

ISKU-supplied phone booths have also received positive feedback. “Of course, there is always room for improvement. Over the past year, we have collaborated with staff on suggestions, such as reducing noise levels in the open office. As one solution, we will install glass walls between the open office and meeting room corridors,” Liisa shares enthusiastically.
