LAB University of Applied Sciences

LAB University of Applied Sciences (LAB) moved to the new premises located in ISKU Center in autumn 2018. Completion of the Lahti campus brought 5,000 students and 400 members of staff to ISKU Center. Overall, LAB has over 8 500 students, making it the sixth largest university of applied sciences in Finland. In addition to the Lahti campus, LAB operates in Lappeenranta, and provides education online. LAB represents the vision and operating culture of the new university of applied sciences focusing on innovation, business and industry.

Located in the former ISKU factory building, the new Lahti campus has become a modern learning and working environment with a unique, diverse and inspiring atmosphere created by mixing old and new. The building complex built in 1958, now houses also modern business premises for several companies and is a versatile hub for businesses and other operators that bring together companies and students.

In the video below, Satu Hyökki who was the Project Director of LAB’s renovation, tells more about the project and describes how users’ wishes were taken into account when creating the new facilities.

The renovated LAB campus premises underwent a total overhaul: the historic factory setting was transformed into energy efficient, state-of-the-art facilities for learning and working. The renovation process was carried out energy-efficiently in line with ISKU’s principles of sustainable development.
