Written by Elise Tarvainen

Every space is a strategic investment.

The workplace is never just a place where work happens. It is a visible expression of an organization’s strategy, culture, and responsibility. That’s why decisions related to spaces and furniture are never merely operational. They are value-based choices and long-term investments in the future.

I strongly believe that future competitiveness will not be built on how much new we acquire, but on how wisely we use what we already have.

Less new, more value

In my daily work, I see a clear shift. More and more organizations are looking for ways to develop their work environments responsibly, and without starting from scratch. This is where adaptive space design and the intelligent reuse of existing furniture take center stage.

Instead of discarding furniture that still has life left in it, we can upgrade, refurbish, and adapt it to meet today’s needs. This is not a compromise. It is a smarter, more cost-efficient way to enhance functionality while reducing environmental impact.

Sustainability becomes tangible in these everyday decisions. In fact, extending the lifecycle of furniture is one of the most effective ways to reduce environmental impact without compromising on quality or user experience.

Smart renewal – FIX IT!

This mindset is at the core of our FIX IT! services. We redesign spaces by making the most of existing furniture, enriching them with new functionality and improved usability.

Old furniture can look new, feel better, and perform more effectively without needing to be replaced.

What makes this possible is our in-house design and manufacturing in Finland. It allows us to respond quickly, ensure the availability of spare parts, and develop solutions not only for new needs, but also for furniture already in use by our customers.

Because our furniture is originally designed to last, it can be maintained and updated over time. This creates the foundation for solutions that serve users for years, while supporting a more circular and sustainable approach to workplace design.

By keeping design, manufacturing, and renewal fully in our own hands, we enable long-lasting investments that evolve alongside changing work and functional requirements.

Conscious choices for the future

Renewing a space is always a value-driven decision. It reflects an organization that thinks long-term while truly valuing what already exists.

Every space is a strategic investment.
Every space deserves a sustainable solution.

The strongest investments are not the ones that simply last – they are the ones that evolve. They adapt with people, support changing needs, and continue to create value long after the initial decision has been made. That is where true sustainability and long-term competitiveness are built.

If you’re curious about how we bring these concepts into action, discover more about FIX IT! and see how it’s applied in real-world projects.

                    About the author

Elise Tarvainen is a transformational leader with a strong track record in driving growth and leading change in international settings.
