This highlighted the importance of excellent carpentry skills.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>In the 20s and early 30s, furniture was often bought as a set for a certain space, such as a dining room. Alongside the decorative Biedermeier style, a new, more linear style started to become ever more popular. Alvar Aalto&#8217;s and other Finnish design classics paved the way for functionalism in Finland. Finnish design became ever more interesting with its simplicity and Finland gained fame around the world for its award-winning masterpieces.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>This was a time of strong growth for ISKU as well. As the company had previously mainly made hard, wooden furniture, the new sofas, armchairs, and school furniture required new working methods and production departments. The new factory was established in Mukkula, Lahti where it is still located. Growth also required the construction of a wider, own store network.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>In the 60s interest in Finnish design kept growing considerably.
